Governor Ododo Visits Late APC Chairman Solomon’s Family »

Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo of Kogi State has visited the family and community of the late APC chairman, Hon. Oyewole Solomon, in Aduge, Ijumu Local Government Area, pledging government support for the deceased’s children.

The governor, who also visited the traditional institution in the community, said he was outside the state when news of Solomon’s death reached him, preventing him from attending the initial condolence visit.

He explained that he had subsequently sent his Deputy, Comrade Joel Salifu Oyibo, to represent him and condole with the bereaved family and community.

Speaking at the deceased’s family home, Ododo described Solomon’s death as a loss to his family, Aduge community, the APC and Kogi State.

The governor said the deceased was not only a committed party member but also a personal friend and brother with whom he shared a close relationship.

“The loss of Solomon is a state loss. Solomon is part of us. We are brothers. We do things together,” Ododo said.

He urged the family to take heart and remain steadfast in their faith in God, assuring them that neither he nor the state government would abandon them during the difficult period.

Ododo further disclosed that the state government had resolved to take responsibility for the education of the children left behind by the late APC chairman.

He said relevant government officials would engage the family on the implementation of the arrangement.

The governor also acknowledged the leadership of Dr Paul Fashaba, whom he described as his mentor and boss, and urged members of the community to respect his leadership and work with him towards peace and development.

At the palace of the Olu of Aduge, His Royal Highness Oba Johnson Babatunde Aladuge, Ododo assured the traditional institution and residents that his administration would continue to support the community.

He acknowledged the developmental needs of Aduge and called on the people to remain united and peaceful.

Responding to an appeal by the community youth leader for increased government attention and appointments, the governor appreciated the community for its support and urged youths and women to avoid actions capable of triggering crisis.

He said preserving the peace and unity associated with the late Solomon would be one of the best ways to honour his memory

Ododo prayed for the forgiveness of the deceased’s shortcomings and for God to grant him eternal rest, while asking for strength for the family and people of Aduge to bear the loss.

The governor reiterated his administration’s commitment to standing with the community and working towards its development.

The deceased’s father, Mr Albat Oyewole, thanked the governor and his entourage for visiting the family despite the earlier condolence visit by the Deputy Governor.
