“Operation Zero Potholes” in Lokoja by Kogi State Government comes into force

Kogi State Government through the ministry of Works and Housing has declared operation “Zero Potholes” in Lokoja the capital to improve the state roads in the capital.

The commissioner for Works and Housing, Engr Abubakar Ohere made the comment in an interview with Insidestory during the supervision of ongoing road projects in Lokoja.

He said the Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello is passionate about the situation of Kogi roads and has given him the charge to ensure he addressed issues concerning all bad roads in the State beginning with Lokoja.

To this end, Engineer Ohere said Marine Road, Zone Eight and Ganaja Junctions, among other parts of the capital are experiencing maintenance, saying that when fully completed, the repairs would open up more social and economic activities within Kogi State capital.

He was very particular about the NTA roundabout/NUJ to SUBEB and Cinema junction road which has been cut off almost a year ago, saying his decision to quickly fix it was to improve human activities that have been hitherto hampered as a result of its dilapidation.

The Commissioner said the Governor understands the critical roles roads construction plays in the social and economic sectors of the people, hence his commitment to ensuring swift completion of the roads.

He stressed that he was charged up by the marching order of the Governor for them to do more to impact their communities, stating that the road construction would make life more meaningful for residents of the state capital who ply the road.

Engineer Ohere further applauded the efforts of the staff of the ministry who he said are committed to executing government projects and pleaded the present government to provide his ministry with necessary environment to operate.

The commissioner also supervised progress of work within the premises of his ministry including his office, and expressed hope for earnest completion to provide good working environment for him and his staff.

On the situation of Federal roads in the state especially the Ajaokuta – Itobe road, the commissioner said he has sent his resident Engineers to on-the-fied assessment and that his office would make recommendations and take necessary action at the end of their assessment.
