Peaceful coexistence in Kogi: Solid Mineral, Natural Resources Commissioner wants communities to cooperate with gov’t

For the State to adequately utilise the abundant natural resources at its disposal, communities where such resources are found must eschew acts capable of disrupting the peace of the land.

To the Kogi State Commissioner for Solid Mineral and Natural Resources, Engr Abubakar Bashir Muhammed, it is only under a peaceful condition that government would be able harness the resources for the development of the entire state.

The commissioner gave the assertion on Thursday in Imane, Ogugu – Emonyoku and Ogodu communities in Olamaboro LGA where he went to check the mining activities going on there and advocated more secured environment for investors coming into the state.

He lauded the current administration of Governor Yahaya Bello, who he said, is working round the clock to ensure the state rebound in its revenue drive after the Coronavirus Pandemic, saying the communities have great roles to play.

“The need for peace, solidarity, understanding and cooperation of the people of the state so that government can really make development reach every part form the core of the Governor’s ‘Let’s Do More’ slogan and I will not leave any stone unturned for Kogi State to reach and even out – grow government projected height.

“As a ministry, we have put necessary machineries in motion to ensure we push for effective generation of revenue by the state for its development through advocacy to the people of various communities so that the abundant natural resources of the state are invested in and used for the socioeconomic wellbeing of the people,” the commissioner pointed out.

On his part, the Ejeh Olamaboro, His Royal Highness, Chief Someon Ujah who spoke through the Oda – Ojiji of Imane and the Ochogu of Ogugu Land, applauded the present administration for its efforts at ensuring the development of all parts of the state.

He reiterated the determination of his office and his council of chiefs to programmes and policies of government at all times, saying that Governor Bello is a true son of the area.

Spokespersons for the communities expressed gratitude to the government of Alhaji Yahaya Bello for his show of love for the people of the area as demonstrated in the elevation of one of their sons, Chief Edward Onoja as the number two citizen of the state.
