Projects: Gov Bello is a performer – Engr. Ohere

President Mohammadu Buhari’s visit to Kogi State should be used to showcase Gov. Yahaya Bello to the world as his infrastructure development and impact remains unprecedented and knows no boundaries.

The Former Kogi State Commissioner For Works and Housing and the All Progressives Congress Flagbearer for Kogi Central Senatorial District, Engr Abubakar Ohere made the appeal in a chat with newsmen on the proposed visit of Mr. President to the State.

Ohere pointed out that he made bold to say that in all senatorial districts of the State, he can attest to the fact that Gov. Bello is a performer and should be showcased to the world with the projects Commissioning.

Engr. Ohere disclosed that he was the 20th Commissioner For Works and Housing the State has produced, says by the judgement of the record he met, everything put together, no administration has performed in terms of infrastructure development like Gov. Bello.

Engr. Ohere disclosed that Kogi State cannot be said to be rich, but said the impact of the infrastructure development and its long term advantage awaiting the State in future, are reasons why Gov. Bello should be celebrated with the visit of President Buhari to Commission several legacy projects.

Engr. Ohere explained that with the intervention of Gov. Bello in infrastructure development, GYB is everywhere, like MTN , pointing out that it is on record that the State has about 900 projects ready for commissioning.

While pointing out that under the present administration of Gov Bello, several projects have been completed at both primary, secondary and higher institution levels, added that the projects completed are also in the rural areas, in electrification, praised Gov. Bello for the completed Omi Rice project.

The APC Flagbearer expressed appreciation that the projects completed happened during his administration, explained that he is however aware that following the busy schedule of Mr. President, only 6 of the projects would be commissioned.

He however said from feelers at his disposal, subsequent commissioning would be performed by some high profile personalities who would be visiting the State, described the Omi Rice, Blue roof projects in primary, secondary, GYB Model Science Secondary School, Confluence University of Science and Technology, Osara, Prince Abubakar Audu University Anyigba, Colleges of Education owned by the State, the Kabba, Ankpa, Ebano Ette Ogugu township roads as completed projects also ready for commissioning.

Engr. Ohere described the intervention of GYB in gully erosion, Ogugu, Ankpa, Ajiolo in Dekina LGA as massive legacy projects also completed, laughed at the insinuation by few misinformed persons that they are World Bank Projects.

The former Commissioner laughed at the misinformation, asked if the World Bank was not in existence during the administration of Alh. Ibrahim Idris, Capt Idris Wada, added that the difference under Gov. Bello was his political will at the payment of counterpart funding.

The APC Senatorial Candidate described the Ganaja flyover as a project several administration’s dodged even though they all agreed it was a necessity but never had the political will to spend the money, said they preferred to look at alternatives to solving the gridlocks experience at the Ganaja junction with the project lying for several years, with the people experiencing hardship and suffering untold hardship, said Gov. Bello’s intervention on the Ganaja flyover bridge was superb and timely to the extent that today the Flyover bridge is a beauty to behold.

While pointing out that the saying that prophets are usually not respected and appreciated at home is not applicable to GYB, said GYB should be praised for his efforts, urged the people to look beyond sentiments of tribe, religion, clan to celebrate Gov. Bello as Mr. President comes visiting.

Engr. Ohere disclosed that the completed Muhammadu Buhari square was more of a dumping ground before now, said the Governor fulfilled his promise to turn the place around, lauded the initiative, pointing out that the square is another legacy to behold.

The APC Flagbearer also praised Gov. Bello for the embarkment project that stretches from Kpata to Nataco, described the intervention of Gov Bello in the road sector as outstandingly impressive.

Engr. Ohere revealed that Gov. Bello’s intervention on road did not witness descremination as to whether it was Federal, State or Local Government road, said he was impacting everywhere that needed road like MTN in terms of road infrastructure.

On the area of health care delivery, Engr. Ohere said the efforts of Gov. Bello must be showcased to President Buhari and the whole world, said in terms of Hospital with the one of the Facility alone, people would have said the State tried, but said within just two years, Kogi State has between seven and nine Hospitals that would make the State a hub and check medical tourism as well as improve on the revenue generation for the State, create direct and indirect employment for citizens of the State.

Engr. Ohere used the opportunity to appeal to the citizens of the State to turnout enmass to give a rousing welcome reception to Mr. President as well as use the Projects commissioning to celebrate Gov. Yahaya Bello for his unprecedented infrastructure impact more than any other administration the State has ever had.
