SSA Student Affairs Calms Protesters at FMC, assures them of Gov Bello's preparation to intervene »

The SSA student Affairs to the Executive Governor of Kogi State, Comr Isah Onimisi Babangida has assured Kogites of the preparedness of the Governor to intervene on the lingering crisis at the Federal Medical Centre in Lokoja.

He gave the assurances earlier this morning while pacifying a group of youths protesting the incident at the gate of the medical facility.

Comrade Babangida, within few hours of the start of the domonstration was inundated with calls requesting for his presence and possible intervention to which he rushed to the scene of the situation and was greeted by many of the Concerned Kogi Youth members embarking on the protest.

He assured them that their concern which centred on the Chief Medical Director of the FMC, Dr Olatunde Oladeji Alabi already has the ears of the Governor who is on top of the situation, saying it would be adequately ironed out in no distant future.

He told them that their call for the removal of the CMD was something they should do with decorum, noting that relevant authorities are looking into the issues raised.

The protesters had accused the CMD of stealing equipment belonging to the state from the Federal Ministry of Health and diverting them to Kwara State.

They said the situation has led to high mortality rate among patients in FMC for medical attention, hence their call for his removal.
