‘Stay within your locality and be accessible’ – Gov Bello to newly appointed SSAs on Security

Kogi State Government have on Thursday sworn in 35 newly appointed Senior Special Assistants with all the twenty one Local Government Areas each getting a Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Security Matters.

The Governor ordered those who are Senior Special Assistants on Security Matters to ensure that they resided within their locality so as to familiarize themselves with the terrain for better security of their region.

Other porfolios designated included Senior Special Assistant on Lagal Matters, Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Tourism, Water Resources, Federal Agencies and others

Governor Bello noted that the new appointees were to assist the State Government, Security Agencies and other Stakeholders to sustain peaceful co existence in the state.

He opined that any responsible government has the responsibility to keep the people safe and secured noting that their appointments as Senior Special Assistants on security matters and other portfolios to the Governor were an acid test to each and everyone of them.

The Governor mentioned that all forms of banditary and other forms of criminality must be stopped at all cost warning those who incites violence to desist from such act.

He charged the new appointees to work closely with the people in their local areas and ensure they resided with their people so as to unhearth criminalities and criminal elements

Governor Bello also charged them to work with various leaders and groups that were in their locality to facilitate smooth running of their engagements and duties

He warned that whoever was caught in the web of criminality no matter how highly placed or affinity should be made to face the law enforcement agencies.

He charged them to work directly with the state’s Commissioner of police, Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs noting that reports would be submitted directly to his office, through the office of his Chief of Staff.

He mentioned that they should be proactive in clamping down those bearing arms, inciting violence, sold and abuse drugs and those involved in cultism within their locality urging them to ensure that Kogi remained a model for other states to copy.
