Supreme Court Verdict: Fmr Kogi varsity governing council chair hail judgement

The decision of Nigeria’s apex court to uphold the election of Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello has been described by the immediate past chairman of the governing council of Kogi State University, Professor Adam Okene Ahmed Abere as a wise one.

Prof Abere made this assertion in a press statement he signed and made available to newsmen where he further described the judgement as a true reflection of the wishes of Kogi people.

He said the governorship election of November 16th 2019 which produced the administration was one that showed the resolve of Kogites to keep the government in power, adding that the result was not in doubt ab initio.

Prof Abere, while praising the judges for their bravery and demonstration of judicial knowledge, he said the judgement was a testament that the opposition was only playing to the gallery throughout the case.

The former governing council chairman who is also the immediate past Provost of the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) stressed the need for the people of the state to rally round the Governor and his administration to be able to provide dividends of democracy to the citizens and improve the socioeconomic wellbeing of the state.

While urging the opposition in Kogi State to also close ranks and join the efforts of government of Yahaya Bello to move Kogi forward p, Prof Ahmed disclosed that the administration has put necessary machineries in place for the continued growth of the state.

He further appealed to the governor to also continue with his laudable programmes for the continued growth of Kogi State, and enthused that the Kogi would witness development under the government.
