The Boys’ Brigade decorates Edward Onoja as Patron

Boys’ Brigade, a foremost international, inter-denominational voluntary, Christian youth organization has honored the Kogi State Deputy Governor, Chief Edward Onoja by appointing him as Patron.

The President of Kogi State council of the Boys’ Brigade Nigeria, Elder Sunday I. Audu in a ceremony held in government house today said the honor is in recognition of the Deputy Governor’s contributions to human and community development, stating that Edward Onoja has consistently displayed the fear of God in all his dealings, a principle which he said had made him sensitive to his Godly obligations and a useful citizen.

Elder Audu said by virtur of Onoja’s appointment as State Patron, he has been enlisted into the noble organization as an adviser and have become part and percel of the body. He stated that the body is faced with numerous challenges which included job opportunities for the youths of the brigade, serviceable vehicles to aid movement for the body, construction of Kogi State Boys’Brigade house, among others.

While praying for God’s guidance and protection in the forthcoming election, the president expressed confidence that the Deputy Governor will use his office and experience to uplift the council.

“I have no doubt that you will use your wealth of experience to bring up this youth organization to the needed level”. He said.

Reacting, the Deputy Governor, Chief Edward Onoja thanked the Kogi State Council of the Boys’ Brigade Nigeria for the honor done to him and pledged his service and commitment to the body.

Onoja hailed the Boys’ Brigade Nigeria for engaging young people in meaningful ventures, saying that it has helped in diverting their minds from vices.

He said the Boys’ Brigade is a body that is well known in every parts of the country and It’s members have consistently showed commitment in service to humanity.

Chief Edward Onoja used the opportunity to call on young people to remain steadfast in their support for the government of Yahaya Bello saying that the government have birthed a new Kogi State where young people are the core of governance.
He said unlike what existed in the past, young people in Kogi State now have a sense of belonging because they are now leaders in their respective rights.

He highlited the various policies and programmes of the government which are geared towards supporting the youths and confirmed that the second tenure promises better deal for the people.

The APC deputy governorship candidate urged electorates to come out and cast their votes for APC stressing that government have put adequate security in place to ensure that voters are protected.

“As you are aware, Governor Yahaya Bello has invited a lot in the security of the State and will not tolerate any breach. He has sounded a note of warning to all those planing to disrupt the existing peace because of election. If they try it, they will regret it.

“I urge you all not to panic. Gather yourselves on the day of election and come out to cast your votes, your security is guaranteed”. He said.
