The Deputy Governor of Kogi State, Chief Edward Onoja has emphasized the importance of unity in the quest for a better and prosperous Igala land.

He said unity, love and support for one another were the ingredients lacking in the current reality in the land, saying that until these are reintroduced into the daily lives of the people, the progress of the land will continue to be stunted.

Onoja gave this admonition yesterday during the 2020 Igala National Prayer conference held at Garden of the Lord prayer camp in Anyigba.

The national grand patron of the Igala National Prayer Conference said prayer was the fastest and most effective way to relate with one’s creator and seek his mercy, noting that a nation that prays can never be conquered. He said the prayer was for the purpose of getting closer to the creator to receive the courage to face challenges and do things in unison to achieve a better result.

He also identified hate, envy, greed, Selfishness, murder, diabolism, unhealthy rivalry and materialism as eight evil spirits militating against the collective growth of Igala land, and called for prayers against these eight monsters as the people unite to build Igala land.

“Unless the Lord builds the house, the laborers labor in vain.

“You make God to build for you by calling on him through prayers because our prayers invites the presence of God who will in turn aid us to build together.

“Irrespective of your religion, by the grace of God, we will build Igala land together, because we are not the builder, God is the builder”. He said.

Onoja said God was using this medium to talk to everyone in the society, including the leaders and the led who God created as good people, but have allowed the spirit of greed to take away the goodness.

“Unless we kill these spirits, there is no way we can unite.

“I am not talking about political unity, because politics is an insignificant part of existence. I am talking about living together in unity. We can play politics on the platforms of different political parties and still unite for the development of our land. Let’s unite with ourselves, unite with our neighbors too, this will make us more formidable and advantageous.”

He opined that unity brings peace and development, and concluded that the Igala race was ready to unite under God, in order to enjoy prosperity.

Special prayers were offered for the state, its leaders, and for the unity and progress of Igala land.
