Leadership of the Kogi State Chapter of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) has said that the constitution of the Council remains the fundamental norm which has, and will continue to guide their activities as a youth body.

The Council made this declaration yesterday in the communique issued after a State Executive Council meeting held at the Youth House in Lokoja.

The communique states, amongst other things that inquires about NYCN should be directed to appropriate quarters rather than engaging in unnecessary speculations which undermines the unity of the Council, adding that preparations are ongoing to ensure that the constitution is made available to all stakeholders, as that will help in addressing the lack of adequate knowledge among members.

In view of the forthcoming congress, The Council throws it’s weight behind the appointment of Ambassador Oladele John Nihi as the Returning Officer, adding that the act has formally set in motion, the process for the transitional election. It however urged the returning officer and other stakeholders to expedite action in setting up the congress committee so as to allow a free and rancur free congress before the end of June this year.

The Council promised to play its role and also provide necessary support to actualize a peaceful process.
