Governor Ododo Meets Artisans, Announces Mechanic Village, Business Support Scheme
Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, has approved the establishment of a Mechanic Village and unveiled plans to empower artisans and entrepreneurs across the state with operational tools and other working incentives aimed at boosting productivity and economic growth.
The announcement was made during the maiden interface and roundtable engagement between the Governor and representatives of artisans and entrepreneurs held at the Government House in Lokoja on Saturday, June 13, 2026.

The meeting, facilitated by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Energy Matters and Chairman of the Forum of Special Advisers, Hon. Olabode Adeyemi, was designed to strengthen collaboration between the government and the entrepreneurial community while promoting sustainable economic development.
Addressing participants at the gathering, Governor Ododo disclosed that his administration would provide operational tools and other forms of support to registered entrepreneurs and artisans across organized trade groups in the state.
He also announced the immediate establishment of a Mechanic Village to provide a coordinated and technologically driven environment for automobile businesses and related enterprises, as well as logistics support to enhance the daily operations of artisans.
Speaking at the event, Hon. Olabode Adeyemi described the engagement as an unprecedented initiative that brought together the state government and key stakeholders who constitute the backbone of Kogi’s business and entrepreneurial ecosystem.
He commended Governor Ododo for his commitment to inclusive governance, people-oriented policies, and his administration’s agenda of shared prosperity, noting that the roundtable would deepen cooperation between government and the private sector.
Representatives of various trade associations, including the National Automobile Technicians Association of Nigeria, the Nigeria Woodwork, Carpenters and Furniture Association, and the Market Women Association, praised the Governor for what they described as his administration’s achievements in education, healthcare, security, transportation, and job creation.
The association leaders also expressed appreciation for the planned empowerment initiatives and pledged their continued support for the administration.
Other groups represented at the meeting included the Tailors Association of Nigeria, the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), the Hairdressers Association of Nigeria, the Aluminium Works Practitioners Association, among several others.
The proposed partnership between the Kogi State Government and artisans is expected to strengthen entrepreneurship development and create more economic opportunities, with stakeholders describing the initiative as a strategic approach to reducing unemployment and addressing the root causes of insecurity in the state.
