Kogi State Govt Bids Farewell to ‘Ododo Mama’ as Governor Mourns Aide
Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, has described the death of Hajia Inikpi Sule, popularly known as Ododo Mama, as a great shock and a painful loss to his administration.
Speaking during the burial rites of the deceased at the family house in Obeya Kekele Anyigba on Saturday, Governor Ododo said she was committed to the success of his administration and remained dedicated to her duties until her death.
The Governor who was represented by his Deputy, Comrade Joel Salifu, noted that Hajia Inikpi Sule died while actively serving the state and deserved all the honour accorded to her by the government. He extended his condolences to the people of Obeya Kekele Anyigba, the Anyigba community, and the entire Dekina Local Government Area over the loss.
The burial ceremony was attended by government officials and political leaders, including the Auditor-General of Kogi State, Alhaji Yakubu Yusuf Okala; the Member representing Okura State Constituency at the House of Assembly, Hon. Hassan Sado; the Commissioner for Poverty Alleviation and Humanitarian Affairs, Hajiya Baby Okwute; the APC Zonal Chairman, Hon. Ogwu Abdul Alhasan; the Executive Chairman of Dekina Local Government Area, Hon. John Urah; the Ogohi Onuh Anyigba, Alhaji Shaibu Okolo, former Dekina Local Government Chairman and Special Adviser to the Governor, Hon. Ishaq Okolo, the Director General, Kogi State Solid Minerals Development Company, Dr. Johnson Musa, among others.
In his remarks, the Executive Chairman of Dekina Local Government Area, Hon. John Urah, thanked the state government for its support to the deceased during her illness and for standing with the family during the burial, saying that the death is a big blow to the local government.
Also speaking, the Ogohi Onuh Anyigba, Alhaji Shaibu Okolo, described the deceased as a cheerful and friendly woman who related well with everyone. He appreciated Governor Ododo for his support to the family, revealing that the Governor personally sent him with financial assistance for her treatment while she was hospitalized.
On behalf of the family, Mr. Idenyi Abuh, younger brother of the deceased, thanked Governor Ododo for his kindness and support to their sister throughout her lifetime, during her illness, and even after her passing. And said God who brought her had taken her back.
The late Hajia Inikpi Sule passed away on Friday, after a brief illness. Until her death, she served as the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Community Mobilization. She was laid to rest at her residence in Olubojo Anyigba after prayers, in accordance with Islamic rites.
