The Public Relations Officer of the command, William Ovie Ayah, in an exclusive interview with Inside Story, Monday, said the current Commissioner, Ali Janga, is determined to continue the disciplinary measures put in place by his predecessor, Wilson Inalegwu. Ayah, an Assistant Superetendent of Police (ASP), reminded members of the public that the immediate past Kogi State Commissioner had regularly intimated them on the need to bring the names of officers they suspected of being corrupt to his office for investigation and subsequent disciplinary action. The mantle of the leadership of Kogi State Police Command, the PPRO said, when it fell on the current CP, he made sure to go through the hand over notes and is ready to implement the policies that would improve the overall policing of the state. He called on residents of the state to continue to give officers of the command requisite support towards improving the security of lives and property, and stressed that policing is the responsibility of all. According to the police spokesman, the Nigerian Police Force in Kogi State has continued to get necessary support from the state government in all ramifications, saying that Governor Bello puts security of lives and property as top in his agenda. He commended the Governor for his steadfastness and determination towards combatting all elements of criminality in the state and assured of the preparedness of the police to assist the state in that regard. The police image maker was particular about the cordial relationship that has existed between the government and the command since the assumption of office of the Governor, and called for improved support towards ensuring that they deliver on their mandate of securing the lives and investments of the state. “No economy can grow, no sociopolitical activity can be carried out successfully without adequate policing system and symbiotic relationship between the policed and the policeman. This is why there is need for that cordiality among all of us,” he concluded.
