Real Madrid have the most valuable squad in the world
It was already crystal clear that the Real Madrid squad was the most valuable in the world given what they have achieved in the last few seasons, but that belief is also supported by data.
The website Transfermarkt, which specialises in market values, lists the Real Madrid squad's total value at 774 million euros, beating Barcelona by 37m euros and Chelsea, in third, by 130m euros.
Despite losing a sizeable chuck of their value with this summer's departures of Alvaro Morata and James Rodriguez, the European champions are still the world's leading squad based on their monetary worth, which has been proven on the pitch in recent months and years.
Cristiano Ronaldo remains the star of the team, valued at 100m euros, while Gareth Bale follows at 80m euros, dropping 10m euros in worth since the beginning of this season, with Toni Kroos third at 70m euros.
The frontline is valued at 287.5m euros, despite being the least populated area of the squad, goalkeepers aside.
Another positive to take from the figures is the side's average age.
At just 25.3 years, it reflects that there is a bright future ahead for the LaLiga champions, not least because of this summer's additions of Dani Ceballos and Theo Hernandez, as well as Jesus Vallejo and Marcos Llorente's returns.
Of the 23 squad members, only Bale and Luka Modric have decreased in value, while Marco Asensio's has risen the most – by 10m euros.
The squad's average worth is 32.34m euros, with nine players being valued higher.
