FUL, KSCOET Mopa Partnership Kicks off with Capacity Building Workshop
The budding relationship between the Faculty of Agriculture, Federal University Lokoja and Kogi State College of Education (Technical) Mopa has commenced on a strong footing with a joint capacity-building workshop on grant proposal writing for staff of both institutions.
The workshop which kicked off today at the Adankolo Campus of Federal University Lokoja, brought together academic staff of both institutions to build competence in craftsmanship and collaborative research.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, the Dean, Faculty of Agriculture, Prof. Olufeagba Samuel Olabode commended the Provost of Kogi State College of Education (Technical) Mopa, Prof. M K Ibrahim for initiating the partnership and committing resources toward the success of the workshop. The Dean also highlighted future prospects of the collaboration, including opportunities for College staff to serve as adjunct lecturers in the Faculty, as well as student exchange programmes between both institutions.
In his remarks, the Provost, Prof. M. K. Ibrahim, expressed appreciation to the Vice-Chancellor of Federal University Lokoja, Prof. Gbenga Solomon Ibileye, and the Dean for their support in actualizing the workshop. He noted that the College’s vision is to strategically leverage partnerships with neighbouring institutions, adding that similar collaborations already exist with Kogi State University Kabba and Federal University Lokoja, while discussions are ongoing toward establishing a partnership with Prince Abubakar Audu University Anyigba.
Describing himself as a proud member of the Faculty, the Provost expressed delight at “being back home” and thanked the Faculty for its continued support. He further expressed confidence that the workshop would equip participants with the skills needed to develop winning grant proposals.
Declaring the workshop open on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Gbenga Solomon Ibileye, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Mrs. Badaki Azumi, described the initiative as timely and impactful, commended the Provost for taking the lead in fostering a partnership that has culminated in the workshop, and noted that it is the first of its kind. She emphasized the importance of grant writing in academia and appreciated the collaboration with the College under the leadership of Prof. M. K. Ibrahim.
The workshop is expected to strengthen research capacity, enhance institutional collaboration, and position both institutions for greater success in attracting research funding.
