Kogi Govt Begins 3-Day OneGov IGMS Training, Says Tech Alone Can’t Transform Governance
The Kogi State Government has commenced a three-day stakeholder training on the Kogi OneGov Integrated Government Management System (IGMS), aimed at improving efficiency, transparency and service delivery across Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).
The training, which began on Wednesday, 2 September 2026, in Kogi State, brought together Permanent Secretaries, heads of MDAs, directors, as well as finance, procurement, human resources and ICT officers from across the state.
Declaring the training open on behalf of the Commissioner for Finance, Budget and Economic Planning, Mukadam Asiwaju Asiru Idris, FCA, FCTI, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Budget and Economic Planning 2, Dr Elijah Evinemi, said the OneGov platform was designed to change the way government business is conducted.
According to Evinemi, the initiative is anchored on the vision: “One Government. One Platform. Better Service.”
He said the existing system, in which budget, treasury, procurement, payroll, revenue, assets and documents operate separately, had slowed service delivery and weakened accountability.
“Kogi OneGov is about changing that. Our budget should speak to our treasury. Our procurement should speak to our budget. Our payroll should speak to verified personnel records. And our documents should move faster, more securely and more transparently,” he said.
Evinemi, however, cautioned that technology alone would not transform governance, stressing that the effectiveness of the platform would depend largely on the people responsible for using it.
“These three days are about you. Ask questions. Test the system. If something doesn’t make sense, say so. You are not just trainees. You are our change agents and future champions of Kogi OneGov,” he told the participants.
He described OneGov as more than an information and communication technology project, saying it represents a governance reform, public financial management reform and institutional reform designed to improve service delivery to residents of Kogi State.
The Special Adviser said the administration of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, FCA, remained committed to strengthening public institutions and ensuring that public resources delivered value through greater transparency, reduced duplication and data-driven decision-making.
He urged the participants to be prepared to “learn, unlearn and relearn” as government transitions from manual and fragmented processes to an integrated digital system.
Evinemi also commended Governor Ododo for his support for the initiative and acknowledged the contributions of the technical team, resource persons and MDAs towards the implementation of the project.
The three-day training, which ends on Thursday, 4 September, is focused on the deployment of the Integrated Government Management System across MDAs in Kogi State, with emphasis on efficiency, transparency and improved public service delivery.
