FULOKOJA postgraduate applicants protest
Candidates seeking postgraduate admission to the Federal University, Lokoja, on Monday, protested against the delay in admitting them.
The protesters threatened to report the Vice-Chancellor of the school, Prof Angela Miri, to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission for allegedly defrauding them.
Spokesman for the group, Daniel Michael, said they applied for admission last year following FULOKOJA’s advertisement.
Fearing they could have lost the money they used to buy their forms, the protesters called on the university to refund them.
“No one is talking to us about the delay. All enquiries are always met with deafening silence,” one of the protesters told our correspondent.
However, a top official of the institution, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the delay in admitting postgraduate students was caused by the delay in releasing the result of the accreditation panel by the National University Commission.
He said, “The release of the result will determine the number of students that will be admitted.”
The source added that FULOKOJA Senate must approve the admission list before it could be sent to prospective students.
He said, “The prospective students should have visited the school and I am sure they would have been convinced that they didn’t need to embark on any protest.”
