Halima Alfa Clarifies Courtesy Visit to Steel Minister, Reaffirms Loyalty to APC
Barr. Hajiya Halima Alfa has dismissed reports suggesting that her recent visit to the Minister of Steel Development, Prince Shaibu Abubakar Audu, was intended to pledge loyalty to a political family or faction within the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a statement issued on Wednesday by Alhaji Yusuf Adama for the Barr. Halima Alfa Political Network, the visit was described as a purely courtesy call between two APC leaders, with no allegiance pledged to any individual or political faction.
The statement said Alfa, described as one of the longest-serving active political figures in Kogi State, remained committed to the unity and collective progress of the APC.
“At no point did Barr. Hajiya Halima Alfa pledge allegiance to any individual or political faction,” the statement said.
According to the statement, Alfa’s loyalty remains with the APC, its constituted leadership and the administration of Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, whom it described as the recognised leader of the party in the state.
It added that the success of the APC at all levels remained Alfa’s priority, while stressing that she had consistently advocated unity and reconciliation within the party.
The statement also recalled Alfa’s longstanding relationship with the late Prince Abubakar Audu, noting that she had been part of the Audu political movement since 1999, when she served as a commissioner in his administration.
It said she remained a key figure in the movement and played a significant role in the 2015 governorship campaign, contributing her time, personal resources and political network to the campaign.
“Her relationship to that political family is therefore neither new nor subject to validation through public declarations of loyalty,” the statement added.
The group said Alfa’s experience and longstanding association with the political structure meant that her counsel should naturally be sought on matters concerning its future, rather than portraying her as someone seeking acceptance or pledging allegiance.
The statement further said Alfa believed that there were no factions within the APC, describing the party as “one united family” with a shared commitment to good governance.
It called on APC leaders to focus on strengthening unity, promoting reconciliation and mobilising support for the party’s continued success.
According to the statement, Alfa would continue to support Governor Ododo’s leadership, promote peace among APC members and work towards the party’s success in future elections.
The Barr. Halima Alfa Political Network consequently urged the public and the media to disregard interpretations of the ministerial visit that suggested political realignment or allegiance to any perceived faction, saying such narratives did not reflect the purpose of the visit or Alfa’s longstanding political principles.

PRESS STATEMENT
RE: SETTING THE RECORD STRAIGHT ON THE COURTESY VISIT OF BARR. HAJIYA HALIMA ALFA TO THE HONOURABLE MINISTER OF STEEL DEVELOPMENT
Our attention has been drawn to a media report alleging that Barr. Hajiya Halima Alfa visited the Honourable Minister of Steel Development, Prince Shaibu Abubakar Audu, to pledge loyalty to a perceived political family or faction within the All Progressives Congress (APC).
For the sake of clarity and to prevent any misunderstanding, it is important to state that the visit was purely a courtesy call between two respected leaders of the APC. At no point did Barr. Hajiya Halima Alfa pledge allegiance to any individual or political faction.
As one of the oldest and most experienced active political figures in Kogi State, Barr. Halima Alfa has always stood for unity, reconciliation and the collective progress of the APC. It is therefore inconsistent with her character and political philosophy to be associated with actions or statements that may promote division within the party.
Her loyalty, like that of every committed APC member, remains with the All Progressives Congress, its constituted leadership, and the administration of His Excellency, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, who is the recognised leader of the party in Kogi State. The success of the APC at all levels remains her overriding priority.
It is equally important to place her relationship with the late Prince Abubakar Audu in its proper historical context. Barr. Halima Alfa has been an integral member of the Audu political movement since 1999, when she had the privilege of serving as a Commissioner in his administration. She remained one of the strongest pillars of the movement over the years and played a significant role in the 2015 governorship campaign, contributing her time, personal resources and political network towards the success of that project.
Her relationship to that political family is therefore neither new nor subject to validation through public declarations of loyalty. Indeed, as one of the longstanding leaders of that political structure, she is among those whose counsel and experience should naturally be sought on issues concerning its future, rather than being portrayed as someone seeking acceptance or pledging allegiance.
Barr. Halima Alfa firmly believes that there are no factions within the APC. The party is one united family, bound together by a common vision and shared commitment to good governance. Every effort by leaders should therefore be directed towards strengthening unity, fostering reconciliation and mobilising support for the continued success of the APC.
As a respected stateswoman and elder, she will continue to dedicate herself to promoting peace among party members, supporting the leadership of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, and working tirelessly for the victory of the APC in future elections.
We therefore urge members of the public and the media to disregard any interpretation of her visit that suggests political realignment or allegiance to any perceived faction. Such narratives do not reflect the purpose of the visit or the principles Barr. Hajiya Halima Alfa has consistently upheld throughout her political career.

Alhaji Yusuf Adama,
