Hours after Kogi Tanker explosion, gas station goes off in Lagos

As Nigeria struggles to come to terms with yesterday’s tanker explosion in Kogi State which claimed 25 live, the country is one again thrown into panic as another gas station goes up in flames in Lagos state.

A loud explosion occurred in Ajuwon, Iju area of Lagos State this afternoon leaving resistants scampering for safety.

The cause of the explosion is not yet clear but many suspect gas.

The incident happened around 3:30pm on Thursday near the popular Cele Bus Stop, along Grailand, Ajuwon.

Eyewitness account said a truck conveying gas exploded while trying to offload its content.

The level of fatality cannot be ascertained as at press time, but it is gathered that the impact of the explosion was felt in over 3 kilometers away.

Ajuwon is a community between Lagos and Ogun State border. People who live in that area are currently running away for fear of another explosion.

Iju is between Agege and Ojodu Berger, a highly populated area within Ikeja Local Goment Area.
Since 2020, at least three heavy gas explosions has been recorded in the area with scores of lives lost.
