“I will contest for second term,” Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello declares

Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello says he would be standing for re-election in November 2nd gubernatorial election in the state.

He made the declaration on Wednesday in Lokoja the state capital, while inaugurating members of the new Assembly Commission recently created for Kogi State.

He made it clear that his candidature was going to be under the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, as there was need for him to build on the numerous achievements recorded under his first term in office.

The Governor noted that his interest was to see citizens of the state united in all ramifications, a a venture that he lauded his administration of achieving because of the sincerity and equity with which he runs the affairs of the state.

Though November is still some seven months from now, Alhaji Yahaya Bello was already upbeat about his party’s chances, stating that his government had been able to demonstrate a clear distinction between the past, the present and what should be expected in the future for the leadership of the state.

It is this distinction that he urged members of the new commission to demonstrate in the discharge of their duties.

Queueing up from the thoughts of the Governor, Speaker of the state legislature, Matthew Kolawole expressed appreciation for the support his arm of government had enjoyed from the executive, which he said had birthed several progress in many fronts.

He was particularly appreciative of the role of the executive in providing a tranquil atmosphere for them to operate, especially the physical and logistical developments that took place in the legislature and described the new commission as a testament to the commitment of Governor Bello to have a true devolution of powers in the state.
