Idris HK Releases Another Tranche of Payment in Settlement of Over ₦7M Scholarship Fund for 50 Kogi Students
The chairman of Idris HK Foundation, Alhaji Idris Hussein Kashim has released another tranche of payment toward the settlement over ₦7 million scholarship scheme established under his humanitarian foundation for students of Kogi State College of Education, Ankpa, reaffirming his commitment to the educational support programme benefiting 50 students of the institution.
The latest payment of ₦1,000,000 was transferred on April 22, 2026 to the college’s consultancy services account, KSCOE Ankpa Consultancy Services Ltd, through an interbank transfer. Transaction details indicate that the payment was successfully processed in continuation of the financial obligations attached to the scholarship scheme designed to sponsor the beneficiaries throughout their academic programme.
The scholarship initiative, which commenced when the beneficiaries were admitted into their Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) programme at Kogi State College of Education, Ankpa, is structured to run from the students’ first year, commonly referred to as NCE I, until their graduation from the institution. The programme covers both tuition and accommodation fees for the selected students, many of whom were drawn from economically disadvantaged backgrounds across different local government areas of the State.
Records from the bursary department of the institution show that the scholarship programme caters for fifty beneficiaries, with each student’s annual financial obligation covering school fees and accommodation amounting to ₦51,500. The initiative is designed to last for three academic years, bringing the total scholarship commitment to over ₦7 million for the entire duration of the programme.
The institution had earlier acknowledged the philanthropic gesture of the donor in an official letter dated November 3, 2025 and signed by the Provost, Dr. Fashagba Paul Femi. In the letter, the management of the college expressed deep appreciation to Alhaji Idris for instituting the educational endowment scheme, describing it as a major intervention that would significantly impact the lives of the beneficiaries.
The Provost noted in the correspondence that the scholarship programme represents not only financial support but also encouragement and motivation for the students to remain focused on their academic pursuits. According to him, the intervention has helped to ease the financial burden faced by many of the beneficiaries, thereby enabling them to concentrate fully on their studies without the constant worry of school-related expenses.
He further emphasized that the investment in the education of young people provides a valuable opportunity for the students to excel academically and eventually contribute positively to their communities and the wider society. The college management also assured the donor that the beneficiaries would be inspired by the gesture to work hard and justify the confidence reposed in them through academic excellence and responsible citizenship.
The scholarship beneficiaries are drawn from various departments of the institution, including Business Education, Agricultural Education, Home Economics, Political Science, Economics, Biology, Technical Education, Arabic and Social Studies, among others. The students also represent several local government areas such as Ankpa, Dekina, Omala, Ofu, Idah, Igalamela-Odolu, Olamaboro, Bassa and Ibaji.
Observers say the continued release of funds toward the scholarship programme demonstrates the sustained commitment of Idris to educational development and youth empowerment in the state.
The businessman and philanthropist has been widely known for his humanitarian activities long before developing any interest in politics. His philanthropic interventions have spanned several communities across the State, reaching vulnerable groups and young people in need of support.
Beyond Kogi East, his among his past humanitarian initiatives was an empowerment programme for commercial motorcycle riders in Okene, Kogi Central, where several riders received assistance to support their livelihoods.
With the latest payment made toward the scholarship scheme, stakeholders say the programme remains a significant intervention aimed at ensuring that financially challenged students of COE, Ankpa are able to complete their academic programmes successfully.
