Igala agenda: Manipulation by desperate political class

A university don, Dr. Usman Ogbo has described the promotion of Igala agenda by some individuals as the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) agenda.

Dr. Ogbo who is the Head of Political Science, Kogi State University Anyigba, made the remark in Lokoja, on a live radio programme on Confluence Radio FM 94.1 tagged; GYB Score Card.

The don said the Igala agenda clamoured is an attempted ethnicization of politics by some PDP big wigs, who are desperate in taking the state back to the old order when it was marooned in underdevelopment as a result of maladministration.

“We have every reason to canvass for the re-election of Governor Yahaya Bello, we have seen the strength of his administration, where past governments failed, he has done differently, he is building a new Kogi from the scratch and he deserves the support of all for the enormous task.”

“PDP agenda is partisan, it’s promoted only in the interest of some selfish few who are still not remorseful for the injustice, the exploitation and pilfering of the state, that have made it the poorest and the most backward even in the midst of many potentials.”

“We cannot go back to the old order, an incredible resuscitation has been made by our youthful and dynamic governor in the last three and half years. These efforts must be sustained in the interest of this generation and the one yet unborn,” he added.

“Some of our people need to get more lightened to see beyond this deception of using them to climb to leadership and dump them at the end.

“We don’t becloud people for selfish reasons. Kogi is behind, conducting its election in November unlike other states, this is as a result of one Igala man against another, that made a then seating governor to spend nines years in office. Where was Igala agenda then? Why didn’t they let go of the court case because they were Igalas. Let our elders speak the truth and unit the people, rather than separate them along ethnic divide,” he opined.

“I don’t see anything wrong with coming together for developmental reasons, which is the interest of all. This Igala agenda using the people to munch yourself into power and begin to divide them is not what we need at this particular point in time. Unity and a focussed leader is all we need.”

“For nine years we had Ibro, Ankpa township road was left undone, go to Ankpa today, the road has been constructed by an Ebira man, it is not about ethnic agenda, but developmental agenda.”

“Let’s not mobilise people against themselves. Don’t set the state on fire. The consequences of this in the future may be beyond our control,” he concluded.
