Imbibe virtue of Christ this Christmas - Engr Bashir Gegu tells Christians »

Kogi State Commissioner for Solid Minerals and Natural Resources, Engr Abubakar Bashir Gegu has enjoined Christians to imbibe the virtues of peace and harmonious relationship between and among them and others as a mark of Christmas celebration.

The Commissioner who made this known in his 2020 Christmas message in Lokoja this morning, urged them to also take the virtues beyond the period and make it part of their lives as long as they lived.

“The life of Jesus Christ was one dotted with peace, forgiveness, tranquility, gentility and mercy. That is what the celebration of his birth exemplifies. All other things are just side attractions if not, Christmas is a period to live and act like Christ. We must not lose sight of that.”

He said celebration of birth of Christ was symbolic, because Jesus is part of those a true Muslim must believe in order to be called a complete believer without who such person’s claim to Islam was not complete.

Engr Bashir Gegu stated that this year’s celebration which falls on a Friday adds to the significance of the day, as Muslims are preparing for their weekly Friday prayers, one of the most significant in the life of every Muslim.

The Commissioner said the Abrahamic faiths have more in common than the mischief makers try to portray, adding that the evolution of society has given all more reasons to be united and love one another in truth and sincerity rather than sowing seeds of discord among one another.

While praying Almighty God to accept the prayers and beautiful wishes of the celebrants, he enjoined them to pray for peace in Kogi State and Nigeria at large.

He said the government of Alhaji Yahaya Bello has created an enabling environment for peaceful and harmonious relationship among the citizens, and appealed to them to also pray for success of the Governor’s 2023 Presidential bid.

He therefore wished all merriment in the cause of the celebration and prayed God to improve the people’s socioeconomic status and assist the state in all ramifications.
