IWD 2021: Gov Bello hails women’s positive role in governance

Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello has hailed women in the State for their positive contribution to governance noting that in current times women’s role in the society have surpassed only domestic duties as they were now key collaborators in nation building

The Governor made this known on Monday at this year’s 2021 International Women’s Day celebration at the State Government House in Lokoja where he was represented by his Deputy, Edward Onoja.

Governor Bello noted that Kogi State under his leadership have reconginised the abilities of women in the society hence it has empowered them to actively add their own quota to governance and politics in the state.

He added that his administration was rated top amongst other state where women were given the voice and political empowerment which as attracted to his government several recognition from women organization both within and outside the country.

The Governor urged the women to serve diligently and assiduously in whatever capacity they have found themselves assuring that his government would continue to create an enabling environment for women to be recognized and also thrive.

Speaking in her Opening remarks, Commissioner for Women Affairs, Hajia Fatimah Buba noted that Kogi Women have largely benefitted from the benevolence and compassion of Governor Yahaya Bello who have placed them at an highly reputable position in the society

She emphasized that the Governor if given a bigger leadership role in the country would guarantee women’s right and re define the role of women at the national level just as he has done in Kogi State while calling on women to throw their weight behind the call for the Governor to run for the office of the President come 2023.

The highlight of the event was the presentation of the award as “Nigeria Trailblazer on Gender Affirmative action” to the Governor for his numerous roles in giving women the enablement to partake in governance.
