Kogi east APC stakeholders restate commitment to returning Gov Bello for second term »

Stakeholders and leaders of the ruling All Progressives Congress in the eastern senatorial district of Kogi State have restated their determination to returning Governor Yahaya Bello for another term in the November 16 governorship poll in the state.

To this end, they have said they would not compromise in the selection of the party’s candidate at the end of this month.

The senator representing Kogi East at the National Assembly, Alhaji Jibrin Isah Echocho emphasized that returning Governor Bello was a deserving reciprocity which has become incumbent on them in view of the antecedents of the Governor.

He said, but for the determination and genuine commitment of the Governor to the cause of the APC and his formula for victory, most of the current political office holders would not have succeeded in the last general election.

Senator Jibrin, who noted that he has been convinced beyond reasonable doubt that the return of Governor Bello was a done deal because the campaign to rerun Bello was for the individual growth and political advancement.

He said he could not pay the Governor back for what he has invested in him especially in the election that took him to the senate, saying he could only reciprocate by supporting his re – election.

He said ascension of the Governor was a direct divine statement to liberate the state, and appealed to the people not to return the people to the political bondage of old.

In his opening remarks, the member representing Idah – Ofu- Igalamela/Odolu federal constituency, Hon David Zachariah said the decision was reached in view of the investment the Governor has made in the area.

He said the Governor has created a better ground for them as members of the National Assembly and created avenues for them to attract better socioeconomic opportunities for their people.

Hon Zachariah urged them to pay deaf ears to the rumors on social media about the decision of the National body of the party and work assiduously for the victory of the Governor in November as he has the support of all stakeholders in both the primaries and the election proper.

On his part, the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Hon Edward Onoja said every other part of the state; including west and central all appreciates the efforts of the present administration and were ready to back the return of Governor Bello.

He urged the delegates from the area not to listen to the rumors being peddled and urged them to keep their eyes on the ball.

Onoja appealed to the party stakeholders to return to party faithful and inform them of the authentic information as it regards the party and the forthcoming primaries and the main election so that they could be well informed.

The Chief of Staff said the Governor has enough points to use for his campaign saying that road projects, water and other infrastructural provisions and youth empowerment among others were enough to ensure the Governor got re – elected.

Speaking, other stakeholders of the party including the zonal party chairman for Kogi East, Hon Ahmed Attah and other appointed and elected members and stakeholders all urged the people to back the party and the Governor because the youth of the state have been given voices and the Governor has also enhanced the infrastructure and other socioeconomic means of the area.

The meeting also had in attendance women, youth and other interest groups whose representatives all made their remarks and told the people that the return of Governor was a done deal and that they were only waiting for the inauguration of Yahaya Bello for a second term in office.
