Skill acquisition: KGSG trains 250 on pipeline building

Kogi Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello has on Sunday advised youths and other unemployed individuals on the need to acquire skills to become self employed and economically independent in the society.

Governor Bello gave the advice when some beneficiaries of Kogi State Government Skill Acquisition programme on iron fabrication paid him a thank you visit in his country home in Okene.

The two hundred and fifty (250) beneficiaries comprises young men and women who are undergoing a training with a metallurgical company on iron fabrication, pipeline building and other welding activities in Central Senatorial District.

Governor Bello said the training would be of great benefit to the youths who made themselves available for the programme, as the Federal Government under the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari had embarked on the construction of a 614km gas pipeline from Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano under NNPC.

According to him, the best thing that could happen to any young person and others in need of jobs is to acquire skills that would bring succor and hope of sustainable engagement for regular income.

Earlier, the coordinator of the programme, Engineer Kabiru Raji who led the beneficiaries on the thank you visit to the governor, expressed gratitude to him for the support received from the governor in the course of the training.

Engineer Raji explained that the company specialised in training and management of industrial welders with adequate theoretical and practical knowledge.

Beneficiaries who spoke, Salawu Abdullahi and Ismail Abdulmumuni thanked Governor Bello for considering them worthy of the training, assuring of their commitment in maximising the opportunity.

From information gathered, the first phase of the training which is expected to last for three months, would be replicated in the three senatorial districts of the state.
