Kogi NYCN Congress fallout: Excos suspend Ag. Coordinator
The last has not been heard of last week’s Congress which elected Comrade Abubakar Isah (Ada’Abu) as the incoming National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) Coordinator for Kogi Local Government Area as the acting Coordinator, Comrade Ibrahim Ibrahim (Mudelly) has been suspended from office.
His suspension follows his decision not to agree with the Congress, but rather demanding to hold a fresh one which the Stakeholders see as unconstitutional as the Congress Planning Committee Members selected were not members of the council, neither are they Stakeholders.
In a suspension letter made available to our reporter in Lokoja and signed by the secretary, Hassana Idris Rahmat, the decision to conduct new Congress was capable of distracting the peace and harmony of the Local Government Area.
According to the letter which the acting Coordinator claimed not to have knowledge of, the Congress earlier held was under the supervision of the State Congress Planning Committee and was held in Lokoja.
The suspension was endorsed by majority of the current executive, including Umar Muhammed Baki (Coordinator); Hassana Idris Rahmat (Secretary); Gambo Taibat (Women Leader); Ibrahim Ishaka (Organising Secretary); Jobsua Mamase (Financial Secretary); Abubakar Yakubu (Provost); Muhammed Yakubu (Auditor); and Muhammed Umar (Ex-Officio).
Comrade Mudelly on the other hand has vowed to continue with plans to hold his own Congress at the Local Government Secretariat in Kotonkarfe to usher in a new leadership with letter of intent currently being distributed to different concerned persons and associations.
Many Stakeholders who spoke on the matter threw their weights behind the congress earlier held, saying the newly elected coordinator was a man that had served and made long sacrifices for the council up to this level.
