PAAU Senate Withdraws 27 Students Over Academic Failures »

The Senate of Prince Abubakar Audu University (PAAU), Anyigba, has approved the withdrawal of 27 students from the institution over poor academic performance and failure to register for two consecutive semesters.

The decision was reached at the university’s 166th Regular Meeting of Senate held on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, following consideration of a report submitted by the Results Verification Committee.

The committee reviewed the academic standing of students across various faculties and departments and identified students who had either failed to meet the minimum academic requirements or had not registered for two consecutive semesters.

Eleven students were withdrawn on grounds of poor academic performance. They comprised students from the Faculties of Arts and Humanities, Management Sciences, Social Sciences, and Medicine and Surgery.

The students are James Isaiah (24EN1006), Alih Hameedat Ugbedo-Ojo (24EN1171) and Isah Abubakar Anaha (24EN1201), all from English and Literary Studies.

Others are Ekele Faruk Joseph (24PA1029), Peter Mercy Iye (24PA1096), Isah Sediq (24PA1123) and Opaluwa Achimugu (24PA1152), all from Public Administration; Idris Husseina (24SC1156) of Sociology; and Zakari Abdullahi Abdullahi (26MD1019), Unekwu Priscilla Ochoniya (26MD1046) and Prince Mathew Victor (26MD1047) of Health Science.

The remaining 16 students were withdrawn for failing to register for two consecutive semesters, a situation which, according to the university, resulted in the forfeiture of their studentship in line with its academic regulations.

They are Moses Omachoko Cornelius (24EN1095), Ujah Stephanie Uyojo (24EN1146), Reuben John Usman (24BA2017), Egah Timothy (23EE1084), Sumaila Tenimu (23EE1011), Abubakar Aliqhahhar (24EE1082), Afolayan Emmanuel Temidayo (24GE1015), Bamokwu Usman (24SE1193), Yusuf Nafisah Opeyemi (24HE1034), Alabi Moses Kolawole (24HE1042), Ilemonа Maria Attah (24HE1085), Nurudeen Muhammed Salihu (24HE1091), Abubakar Muhammed Awwal (23IE1018), Unwujo Habibat (23IE1035), Noah Ojonanyi Shedrach (23BF1232) and Semion Praise (24SE1256).

The Vice-Chancellor and Chairman of Senate, Prof. Salisu Ogbo Usman, commended members of the Results Verification Committee for what he described as their diligence, objectivity and commitment to maintaining the university’s academic standards.

Prof. Usman said the Senate and university management remained committed to academic excellence, discipline and quality assurance.

He stressed that while the university would continue to provide a conducive environment for learning, students were also expected to demonstrate commitment to their studies and comply with existing academic regulations.

The Vice-Chancellor urged continuing students to remain focused, utilise the academic opportunities available to them and strive for excellence in both character and learning.

The affected students have also been directed to return all university property in their possession, including identity cards and other official items, to the security unit before leaving the institution.
