‘DO NOT TACHA’ – There can be leave and transfer any time

I have issues with aspects of the Big Brother show; not the show in its entirety and that is why I watch it. I know where to change the channel. I am not calling you out if you do not like it at all, life is about choices. I don’t know what has become of Efe, but he is one guy that showed you must add determination rather than qualification alone to get you where you want.

Using Efe as a reference point, he demonstrated you need to show bravery in any environment irrespective of who the competition is. He was never intimidated by the seeming better ‘polished’ and panache display of his then housemates in the Big Brother to win the show. He achieved that feat, in some ways, against all odds.

I had to inject the phrase; ‘in some ways’ because when it came down to just Efe, TBoss and Bisola as the final three, a lot of people had concluded TBoss was going to win, given her pedigree throughout the show. Others thought it would Bisola to emerge but some of us stuck with Efe because of his originality and sense humility during tasks. He was a breath of fresh air from previous winners.

This piece is not about how Efe won the show two years ago but how not to be a Tacha. In fact, I have nothing doing at the moment and that’s why I am wasting my time on the disgraced and disqualified nonentity. She is not worthy of anybody’s time at all. Tacha is everything no one wants their children to be; uncouth, ill-mannered, troubled, pompous, razz, disgruntled, ill-breed, unintelligible, full of bad energies,… I could go on but with this few adjectives of mine, I hope you get the picture.

I said Big Brother has its positives, plenty of them even. It has given all eligible men out there the idea of who Tacha is and one would possess great viscera to want to settle down with ‘Portharcourt First Pikin’ as she likes to refer to herself. Putting people down, getting into fights and being a trouble shooter are not traits to have – it is even worse if you are a lady.

You have to form bonds despite the inevitability of quarrels and misunderstandings now and then. You can’t continue to fight everybody all the time and think you are doing yourself any good. It doesn’t pay.

The picture of Tacha’s last moments in the house has stuck in my head. She and Mercy had had their issues. Fine. When it was time for Big Brother’s verdicts to be pronounced on the two estranged housemates, it was Tacha standing alone still spoilt for a fight with her shades on.

Mercy on the other hand had Diane closely holding unto her from the right and Ike to the left. They were trying to console her in case of ejection or any form of punishment. Her tears were overflowing as she wailed and other housemates seemed to be helping her shed tears. She had a support system, Tacha had none.

When the verdict was pronounced, other housemates rushed to and gave her warm hugs. But the remember the ‘No Leave, No Transfer’ outburst by Tacha? Almost all the housemates thought she was going to be evicted before their hopes were dashed. I was one of those that wanted Tacha gone. Her disqualification was therefore a welcome development. In fact, it was a fitting gift for those of us that had endured her negative attitudes for weeks.

Now, back up to the fight scene between the duo. Go back to what Frodd and Seyi were doing while the fight was on. Seyi especially seemed to be enjoying the madness being displayed by Tacha. It was equally appaling to see two grown up ladies calling each other names on international television and almost turning it physical – especially from Tacha’s angle.
